Best friend

In Panavic society, the concept of familial relationships is not strictly kept to blood relatives. Close friendships can develop into a similar kind of relationship, called a "best friend" relationship. This is extremely similar to romance in concept. Those of Myalvi find the association between family bonds, friendships, and romance to be disturbing, but in Panavic society, it's intuitive, as reproduction and marriage are a distinct concept from romance/best-friendship.

In Panavic culture, it's often the case that a yaref with a human "best friend", when the human dies, absorbs their SOUL, so that the human is brought back as a combined being with the yaref.
