Mairo

Mairoi are a race with pale skin and a generally feminine appearance relative to the dimorphism schemes present in most other races. The clothing custom shown here is not related to gender, although there are other gendered social expectations in Mairoi culture.

The Mairoi (singular: Mairo) are a race of humans living in Aenahai. They physically resemble pale-skinned standard humans with dark hair and androgynous features. Culturally, they place a high focus on aesthetics and have little flexibility in their opinions, alongside often failing to recognize emergent problems in society. They also have long-standing bad relations with the grebs. The term "Maier" refers to the Mairo nation as a collective.

Development

The Mairoi are inspired by humans from discarded iterations of Crow's worldbuild "Year 0", which has a faction called the "Myrre" (pronounced similarly to Maier). Additionally, the name is inspired by Mairon (Sauron) from Lord of the Rings.
