An Incoherent is a yaref which has lost its physicality due to the effects of determination combined with "dying" in a formal sense. During the breakdown of the body of a monster, it can also permanently fuse to another monster in a similar state, though forms do stabilize once the breakdown into an Incoherent is complete. An Amalgamate is a being formed by multiple yarov of this kind combining together. As of 913, there are several Amalgamates, all formed accidentally as a result of Alfi-Niv's experiments in 908 SR (246 X). Note that because forms stabilize once the breakdown is complete, Amalgamates cannot combine into more complex amalgamates, and incoherents that have fully broken down cannot combine into amalgamates. A list of Amalgamates follows: * "Watching Man", including Kanako. * "Endogeny", including Doge and Muttler. * The "Memoryheads", who do not seem to carry any specific previous identity. * "Reaper Bird". * "Lemon Bread". * "So Cold". A number of Incoherents which are not amalgamates also exist, including those which were created as a result of Alphys' original experiment (including Max) and various other yarov who chose to enter an Incoherent state upon falling down. Singular Incoherents are rather powerful, similar to a weaker version of an unsef. Amalgamates are weaker relative to their number of members; F. T. Gelin, in his effort to quantify the effective power of yarov, poses that this relation is an inverse proportional relation.
